One photo album that I have is signed A H Witham, Denmark, Maine. Another album could very well have been his, too, but I'm not certain of its origins. It contains some Jewett photographs, so I have differentiated it from the other by calling it the Witham/Jewett album. Aaron Horatio O. Witham (1834-1912) was a minister or reverend. Although most of these photos are undoubtedly of family, many might also be those of acquaintances and friends he met through his ministry. I include them all here in hope that someone might be able to put a name to them. Please let me know if you recognize any of the photos. Rev. Witham had a few photos of women who do not seem to be related and I have not scanned all their photos. The ones that were labelled are: Miss Anna M. Williamson (Sunday River, Newry), Mrs. R. A. Tibbetts (Brunswick), Rebecca M. Parker (Lovell), Abigail Brickett, Miss Ellen A. Crawford (Bath), Lucy Kimball, L. Delphine Powers..
Please note: The Witham photograph albums are in poor condition. The bindings are broken and crumbling, had mites in them when I got them, the pages are torn. Someone's attempts at repairs in times past, by gluing the old tintypes to paper backing, has resulted in the glue eating through the photo. Also, the photos have been removed and replaced so many times and so many are missing, it is impossible to determine their original placement in the albums. Despite all this, I feel it is vital to preserve and share these images of our ancestors before they are lost. -Jeanne
